2,000 A.D (in two parts)
screening and social installation around Benjamin Patterson’s interview from his 1992 exhibition “Getting Ready for 2,000 A.D.” Fondazione Mudima
In 1992, at the Fondazione Mudima (Milan), Benjamin Patterson showcased his visual and compositional works in an exhibition titled "Getting Ready for 2000 A.D." Through this exhibition and a video interview, Patterson delved into his then-present concerns and his expectations for the approaching millennium. In the interview for the exhibition, Patterson communicates his apprehensions regarding the contemporary politics of the nineteen-nineties, and their potential implications for the future, which have now seemingly materialized twenty-four years into this era.
During this presentation and discussion, the Suoni Per Il Popolo and Montreal community will watch the twenty-one-minute video interview, followed by a brief discussion guided by O. Rynell Cash, curator of REMIX, exploring the socio-political themes frequently disregarded in Patterson's compositional works. To conclude, a ‘social installation’, enhanced by a screening of the 1992 social gathering during the opening at Fondazione Mudima, which Patterson attended, will be accompanied by a cocktail from "Cocktails 'Chez Ben'; 2003.
