SlowPitchSound
Inspired by nature, outer space, and dystopian sci-fi, Cheldon Paterson blends turntablism, sample manipulation, and field recordings to create his soundscapes. As SlowPitchSound, the Toronto-based composer, mentor, and explorer of sound & visuals, is known for his unique style of music production that he self-proclaims as "scifi-turntablism." He has collaborated with artists from diverse disciplines such as opera, jazz, classical, electronic music, theatre and dance and has performed globally.
In addition to his musical pursuits, SlowPitchSound has shifted into live theatre, further cementing his status as an artist who refuses to be confined to any medium. His unique approach to music-making and genre-bending has earned him praise from publications such as Exclaim! and Thump/Vice, who described his work as the "playfulness of jazz and the world-building of science fiction" and "his own brand of turntablism."
