Suoni is excited to present an atomizing sonic journey with Quatuor Bozzini and Sarah Davachi, performing Davachi’s Long Gradus. This deliberate work is designed to slow the cognitive movements of both listener and player considerably and to focus their attention on the relationships between moments. Long Gradus explores the spatial experience of harmony through a system of septimal just intonation and Baroque scordatura. Long Gradus results from Davachi's ongoing preoccupation with chords, cadences, and sustained sound. It is designed to considerably slow the cognitive movements of both listener and player, leading to a sense of pacing that is markedly different from that of mensural notation.
