Quatuor Bozzini invites Howard Skempton, an early member of the Scratch Orchestra, for his first ever visit to Montreal. A major figure of experimental music in England, he has composed extensively, mainly small-scale tonal music, in an idiom outside the rhetoric of modernism. Skempton’s music is exquisite and simple, with strong clarity and sophistication. His finely crafted, distinctive writing is sometimes catchy, sometimes transcendental, always memorable.Skempton and Quatuor Bozzini will join forces on an evening for solo accordion, string quartet and other combinations.
