This is a free event in which Scott Thomson (Guelph Jazz Festival Director) will perform a three-hour trombone solo at Casa; come in for a visit or tuck yourself in to watch the marathon performance. He will be playing a piece called “Enamel,” which came about In 2021 when he asked composer Martin Arnold to create a solo for him. The result is a long piece that comprises numerous not-quite-repeating melodic cells that unfold slowly but do not propose development, thus creating a feeling of perpetuity.
Attendees are invited to arrive and depart as they please, and to listen for whatever duration suits them.
