avec Musique Rayonnante + NOW Society
Hand-picked by Montreal clarinettist Lori Freedman for a Berlin residency project, a ‘dream team’ was formed: Yorgos Dimitriadis on drums and electronics; Axel Dörner o trumpet and electronics; Lori Freedman on bass and Bb clarinets; Andrea Parkins on electronics; Christopher A. Williams on contrabass. They actively investigate ‘self’ and ‘other’ and ‘community’ and, subsequently, the juicy stuff like mystery, wilderness, conflict, and elation. Presenting for the first time in the city, Hand to Earth is a call to open ears - eluding genre, traversing continents, fusing the ancient and the contemporary, Australia’s most distinctive contemporary music ensembles. Opening the night, Trading Places artists in residence, the collective how to survive a high rise hotel fire, by bassist Nikko Whitworth and oboist Haley Bird. They strive to create a community around co-regulation, meaning-making and nonsense-making through sound.
