Formed over the Fall of 2022, Shunk is a new four piece from Montreal. Drawing from a vast catalog of musical influences, their sound ranges from shimmering French love songs to cataclysmic rock. The band's live performances are intense and mesmerizing, and the whimsical lyrics and cutting riffs fashion a distinctive sound. Peter’s guitar playing is inflected by his pop melodic synth background, the lyrical riffs are grounded by Julia’s punk inspired bass lines. Adrian’s drums imbue the songs with a jazz improvisational quality which contrasts Julia’s unruly and chaotic riffs. Gabrielle’s lithe yet cutting vocals move through the varied genres seamlessly.
