Horns and Drums
Horns and Drums is a group dedicated to free improvisation. It is composed of saxophone players Bryan Highbloom (tenor, soprano, c-melody) Raymond Torchinsky (f-alto, alto, bass clarinet) and drummers Trevor Ferrier (African drums) and Mark Nelson (trap drums).
Bryan and Raymond have played together since 1969. We met Trevor in the middle 70’s. Bryan met Mark at COOP Symphonique 2 years ago. Bryan brought this group of experienced and open musicians together last fall for the recording project Meetings and Reunions.
The goal of the project was to play freely to the titles we wrote down and then were chosen at random by our sound engineer, Jean Luc. We did one take per title. The music will soon be posted to Bandcamp.
We are delighted to be able to present the live version of this concept on June 23, 2024 at Suoni per il Popolo.
