Farida Amadou
Farida Amadou (b.1989) is a self-taught bass player from Liège, Belgium, who has quickly become recognized as a rising star in the international free and improv music scene. While the electric bass has been her main instrument since 2011, she began exploring various musical genres, such as blues, jazz and hip-hop, in 2013. After spending a year as the bass player for the Belgian punk band Cocaine Piss, Farida shifted her focus to her solo improvisation practice and collaborations with renowned musicians such as Thurston Moore, Peter Brötzmann, and Steve Noble. She has also collaborated with other occasional features, including Mette Rasmussen, Linda Sharrock, Chris Pitsiokos, Eve Risser, Alex Ward, and Jerusalem in My Heart. She exudes utter originality as one of the up-and-coming Belgian artists on the international free and improv scene.
