Bye Parula
What happens when Neapolitan, Chilean and Catalan sensibilities form a sonic fabric? The beautiful, swooning arrangements and rich vocal harmonies of Bye Parula, that’s what. Back in 2020, Sergio d'Isanto, Sebastien Riquelme, and Loïc Calatayud met in Montreal and formed Bye Parula. Their progressive pop sound marries vintage film scores and contemporary indie timbres and exudes a raw simplicity and polished orchestration that seamlessly oscillates between eras, influences and genres.
With only three days of studio time, the trio crafted a remarkable 4-track demo that caught the attention of renowned producer Robbie Kuster. Impressed by their sound, Kuster urged the band to record their first album. Warren Spicer recorded and mixed the album, while Aurélien Tomasi and Mélanie Bélair contributed the brass and string arrangements.
