Mexhicah Bones Geraldine Eguiluz Sextet
Mexhicah Bones is the latest work emerging from the trio comprising of Geraldine Eguiluz (voice, trumpet, guitar), Stéphane Diamantakiou (contrabass) and Jean René (viola), with the addition of Gabriel Rivest (tuba), Léa Boudreau (electronics) and Mili Hong (drums). The pieces of this new ensemble are inspired from the research of Soundscapes and Sound Portraits of Mexico which Eguiluz produced in 2017-2018. Her work bridges different generations of artists, musical genres, nationalities ; it is multicultural, festive and emotional music. Delving deeply into the roots of mexican culture, bringing it to a new light, from afro-american and improvisation languages, Mexhicah Bones resonates strongly with the imminent changing of consciousness, aesthetic and the global politics of our era.
