Le Jazz Libre du Québec en son et en image avec HeArt Ensemble
Between 1967 and 1975, Jazz libre du Québec laid the foundations upon which Montreal established its reputation as a dynamic hub for improvised music. This event will pay homage to the group while celebrating its cultural mediation efforts and community-building role. HeArt Ensemble (Guy Thouin, cofounder of Jazz libre du Québec, and Félix-Antoine Hamel) and its accomplices (Claude Maheu, Nicolas Caloia, Bryan Highbloom, and Craig Pedersen) will revisit the album Jazz libre du Québec released in the late 1960s. A documentary on Montreal’s free improv scene, " Ce soir on improvise : nouvelle musique au Québec " (Michel Di Torre et Raymond Gervais, 1974), will be shown before the concert. Michel di Torre will in attendance. This event follows the publication of Eric Fillion’s JAZZ LIBRE et la révolution québécoise by M Éditeur.
