Moose Terrific
Moose Terrific is an experimental electronics and synth duo composed of Montreal based Sam Shalabi and Tamara Filyavich. The pair focuses on classic synth sounds but with a lot of polyrhythmic, symphonic, post-punk, North African and Ukrainian influences and other mayhem.
They have released a debut album called 'The Drinks' on the Irish label, FortEvilFruit and are currently working on another one.
Tamara Filyavich is a sound art producer based in Montreal who also performs as an experimental electronic musician, drawing inspiration from a wide range of influences including early synthesizer music, Eastern European folklore, and post-punk. She works both as a solo artist and in collaborative projects, featuring composed and improvised work.
Sam Shalabi is an Egyptian-Canadian composer and improviser based in Montreal, Quebec. He began in punk rock in the late 70s and has since evolved his sound to fuse experimental, modern Arabic music with traditional Arabic, noise, classical, text, free improvisation, and jazz. He has released numerous solo and collaborative albums, appeared on over 60 albums, and composed music for over 20 films. His recent projects include collaborations with Dwarfs of East Agouza, Karkhana, Nadah El Shazly, Oren Ambarchi, Mark Fell, and Will Guthrie.
