Tommy Davis

Tommy Davis regularly performs on six members of the saxophone family in collaborative, multidisciplinary and chamber music settings, where he explores the integration of theatre, movement, electronics, video and improvisation. He has performed at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Sonorities Festival (Belfast), Roulette (Brooklyn), the World Saxophone Congress, the North American Saxophone Alliance Conferences, the Society for Composers Inc. National Conference, Opus Erasmus (Paris), Codes d’Accès (Montreal), Music in New Technologies (Halifax), GroundSwell Winnipeg, and the Calgary New Music Festival. Tommy is a Prairie Debut and Debut Atlantic alumnus and has toured across Canada, the Midwest USA, France, the UK. He has given guest artist recitals and masterclasses at Cambridge University (UK), Kent State University, University of Wisconsin at Whitewater, University of Manitoba, Dalhousie University, and the University of Victoria.

A strong proponent of new music, Tommy has premiered works by Canadian composers John Celona, Gordon Fitzell, Colin Labadie, Robert Lemay, Jason Noble; by French composers Philippe Geiss, Denis Levaillant, Gregoire Lorieux, Etienne Rolin, Pedro Velasquez; and by American composers Alexander Blank, Cory Kasprzyk, and Michael Lanci. Tommy has performed as soloist with the McGill Percussion Ensemble, University of Saskatchewan Wind Orchestra and Concert Band, Orchestre d’harmonie de Boulogne-Billancourt, and the Jean-Michel Goury and Friends Saxophone Ensemble (France). He is a volunteer organizer of the Montreal Contemporary Music Lab summer workshop held annually in Montreal. Currently enrolled at McGill University in the D.Mus. program, Tommy is studying saxophone performance under the guidance of Marie-Chantal Leclair.
